Biomechanical assessment of the lumbar spine using NedLumbar/IBV: apropos a case of intervertebral disc degeneration
Low back pain is a health problem with enormous medical and social costs. One of the main causes is the degeneration of the intervertebral discs. This structural alteration presents a wide range of symptoms and requires new tools to facilitate the decision-making process and the most appropriate treatment approach.
This study describes a) the biomechanical analysis parameters that are relevant to the assessment of lumbar spine functionality using the NedLumbar/IBV software, and b) how instrumented biomechanical techniques can help healthcare professionals to select the optimal treatment strategy for each patient's pathology.
NedSVE/IBV, a new concept in the assessment and rehabilitation of postural balance
Balance is a person's ability to maintain their center of gravity within their base of support with minimal sway. In clinical practice, a comprehensive clinical assessment of postural control is important for both diagnostic and therapeutic reasons, as balance disorders can have serious consequences for physical and psychological performance.
NedSVE/IBV is a software application that not only quantifies a patient's functional status in relation to their postural balance but also provides a rehabilitation program. A major update has recently been carried out to add new functions and improve usability for clinical practice.
Clinical usefulness of NedCodo/IBV in the assessment of elbow pathologies: A case report.
A rupture of the distal biceps brachii tendon usually occurs when the elbow is in flexion and the forearm in supination. When such a rupture occurs, it tends to cause chronic pain and loss of strength, which is why surgeons recommend surgery for this pathology. The NedCodo/IBV software performs a quantitative assessment of mobility and strength in elbow pathologies in an easy, streamlined and simple way thanks to its reduced number of markers, its test recommendation system, and its ability to compare the results with a normalcy database segmented by age, sex and dominance in terms of the movement performed, thus assisting professionals in the diagnosis and follow-up of this type of pathology. A clinical case follows below, in which a patient’s biomechanical limitations are analyzed and the clinical usefulness of this tool for clinical professionals is presented.
The risks of teleworking and how to reduce them with Ergo/IBV
Telework is a way of working that has increased considerably over the last few years.The growth of this option, especially as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, has meant that, in many cases, it is performed without adequate planning and correct consideration of the potential occupational risks that it may entail.
In order to take these aspects into account, a methodological proposal has been developed to assess teleworking from an ergonomic point of view, thus allowing a flexible assessment of the telework conditions, facilitating the identification of problems, a diagnosis of the situation at an individual and/or collective level, and the identification of recommendations for improvement.
