Gait assessment with AMHPlus/IBV after ankle fracture surgery: Case report
Ankle fractures are the most common bone fracture in the body, subsequently leading to biomechanical alterations. In this context, it is important to carry out an assessment of the functional capacity with parameters that can be determining factors for recovery. We present a clinical case in which the functional capacity of gait has been assessed using the NedAMHPlus/IBV application in a patient with an ankle fracture, the purpose being to demonstrate the clinical usefulness of this application and to understand how fatigue affects gait in patients of this type.
Analysis of Biomechanical Alterations in Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome using Kinemov/IBV: A case report
Patellofemoral pain syndrome is one of the most frequent causes of knee pain. Biomechanical analysis provides the key information that is required to prescribe therapeutic exercise because current tests, whether diagnostic or functional, do not provide sufficiently specific and reliable information. In comparison to standard technologies, which tend to be complex and tedious, the Kinemov/IBV software facilitates a biomechanical analysis in a streamlined, fast and objective way. This biomechanical analysis makes it possible to identify the deficits of each joint and to create a customized therapeutic exercise program.
Biomedical Engineering Technological Network applied to degenerative pathologies of the neuromusculoskeletal system in clinical and out-of-hospital settings
Launched in 2020, the main objective of the IBERUS project is to create a new strategy for network cooperation in research, development and innovation in the healthcare sector.
The project, led by the Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV), has also benefited from the participation of three other Spanish technology centers: CTIC, which specializes in cutting-edge technologies and Artificial Intelligence, ITCL, a benchmark center in Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, electronic design and embedded systems applied to digital healthcare, and TEKNIKER, which specializes in Advanced Manufacturing, Surface Engineering, Product Engineering and ICTs.
The aim of this project is to strengthen the scientific and technological excellence of the cluster at both the national and international level, as well as its capabilities and assets in the field of BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING, thus reinforcing and encouraging the processes by which knowledge is transferred to the Spanish industrial fabric.
Clinical utility of NedAMHPlus/IBV in gait assessment. A case report
NedAMHPlus/IBV is a software application designed by the Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV) to help the clinician to carry out an objective analysis of gait in a simple, fast and - of paramount importance - easily interpretable way, given that it focuses on detecting and quantifying the primary dynamic and kinematic deficits thereof. The following clinical case allows us to demonstrate the usefulness of this application in the process of interpreting the results obtained through this test and making therapeutic decisions based on those results.
